Style ID: Donna Doyle

Dear Readers,

Whenever people tell me, 'My, my you're one hell of a Shopaholic', with their usual annoying intonation, I swiftly reply, 'Darling, you should meet my cousin Donna.' For today's 'Style ID' post, I chose the person who took me to shops every Saturday for hours when I was just ten years old. She's the same person who taught me plenty of fashion tips and gave me my first Mango bag as a present. Ladies and gentlemen, please meet my cousin Donna Doyle.

I had a plethora of questions to ask Donna even though, I admit, I knew the answers to 75% of them at least. Yet, some of the answers she has given me were somewhat surprising. After describing her style as 'classic', Donna told me that her three wardrobe essentials are denim skinnies, plenty of jackets and, obviously, a black dress. However, even though she described her style as 'classic', Donna told me that her black dress needs a bit of an edge as well.

We then discussed current trends in Fashion World, and to my surprise, Donna told me that she's not keen on the entire mustard trend going on at the moment. She believes the colour doesn't suit her at all, and more than that, she doesn't like it on others either. If you're discussing AW2011 trends, you just have to mention metallics right? So I did. Donna told me that her all time favourite metallic is silver. 'Silver is for life,' she said,  but then added that she's 'getting there' with gold as well. I always knew Donna liked animal print, so I just had to ask her a question about that given that it's all over the place right now. 'I love it!' she exclaimed, 'especially snakeskin.' She then happily told me that her favourite snakeskin pieces at the moment are her brown Furla snakeskin shoes and her Mango snakeskin dress. Her favourite trends at the moment, however, are jumpsuits, leather, as well as carrot-style pants.

Speaking of Mango, Donna is literally obsessed with Mango. She hardly buys anything that's not from that store. She's like the face of Mango, I'm not kidding. In fact, when I asked her what her three favourite shops are, she immediately retorted with 'Mango, Mango, Mango.' Oh, and wait for it, when I asked her who her favourite designers are, she asked me, 'Who designs Mango? It's them.' Hopeless case, I know. Then she also told me that she likes Prada, Burberry, Chloe and Stella Mc Cartney. But Mango is on top.

We then discussed what her least favourite shops are, and after some moments of deliberation, some 2 seconds, she told me, 'Terranova, because it's junk.' Everyone seems to have the same opinion with that store lately, myself included. Probably the funniest moment of our entire chat was when whether she has anything she ever regretted buying. I mean, we all usually have something no? Not Donna though. Following an awkward silence, Donna smiled and confessed to me that there's absolutely nothing she regrets buying!

Fossil Ring and Pretty Nails

Then came the million dollar question, 'Do you like white shoes?' You know I have a strong sense of animosity towards those shoes. Anyway, Donna told me that she's fine with white shoes, as long as they're 'done in a tasteful way'. However, she also told me that she would never pick a pair of white court shoes. Good girl, never do. We are in complete agreement about white tops, they are the best. YAY!

Donna's Mango Shoes

Donna's ultimate style icon is Kate Moss and her favourite closet item at the moment is her black, leather Mango mini skirt. She also told me it's the most expensive piece of clothing she owns at the moment, excluding her Michael Kors sunglasses - which she said are five euro more expensive than her Prada ones - and her Furla shoes.

RAWR!

Our chat ended with Donna describing her outfit of the day. Don't be too surprised, but everything is from Mango. Everything except her Zara top and her Fossil ring (which I adore, btw!). I'm totally digging that top as well. 'They have it in brown as well,' she told me, 'but this looks better!'. We believe you on that, don't worry.

Oh, a slight detail I want to conclude with is that Donna is turning forty three in January. I thought that would surprise you.
